Dr. Katona received his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama and received his Medical degree from The University of South Alabama. He has been a Primary Care Physician since 2000.
Jill Beam, P.A.-C
Jill received her undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama Birmingham and received her Physician's Assistant degree from The University of South Alabama in 2011. She has been in Primary Care since 2019.

Our Practice
Riverside Family Medicine is committed to excellence with every patient and family that we serve. We uphold a high standard of integrity bound by medical knowledge, empathy, and personal responsibility. We offer quality service to our customers by offering easy access for appointment scheduling, medication refill requests, answering questions and hospital service. Dr. Katona has over 20 years of medical experience, giving him a wealth of knowledge to meet the needs and interests of our patients and make their concerns the basis of our business.
Dr. Katona received his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama and his Medical Degree from The University of South Alabama. After completing his residency at The University of Alabama, Dr. Katona went to work serving the patients in this practice. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has admitting privileges at DCH Regional Medical Center and consulting privileges at Northport Hospital DCH. He also sees patients in local nursing homes. We see patients over the age of 12, with the majority of our patient population being mature adults.
Jill Beam, PA-C, joined our practice in February 2019. After completing her undergraduate degree from UAB, she completed her training as a Physician's Assistant at The University of South Alabama. Jill has worked serving the underserved population here in Tuscaloosa and also has an extensive work history in Urgent Care.

Did someone say LAB...
Did you know that we have dedicated lab appointments each weekday from 8:30 am until 9:00 am? We do fasting labs prior to your appointment with the provider if you are interested. This gives you actual numbers to discuss with your provider at your visit. So... get a pat on the back or some needed motivation, either way you have the opportunity to ask your questions directly with your provider. But don't worry, if you like getting everything done in one visit, we will be happy to assist and you will be contacted by one of our staff members to answer your questions and give you the information you need about your results.
Can't make it into the office for your lab work?
If you live outside of the Northport area or if you go to work early or late and need flexibility we will be happy to fax lab orders for you to the lab of your choice. Just one more way we are trying to make your healthcare a priority!

Have you had your Annual Wellness Visit?
Just like the your yearly physical... but with a little more detail! If you are in an Advantage Insurance Plan, a PPO Plan or even some Commercial Insurance Plans, an Annual Wellness Visit is required to get all the benefits of your policy and keep your rates low! Most plans, like Blue Advantage, Humana & BCBS offer you a AWV with no copay, at your Primary doctor's office. Plus, they will pay you $25.00 just for having it done.
